Marlene’s Event Barn Wedding // Hope & Eli

I’m going back in the archives again with today’s wedding! Even though it’s been almost two years since these two tied the knot, their wedding still stands out as a favorite of my 2022 season.

A Charming Venue at Marlene’s Event Barn

I arrived at Marlene’s Event Barn, a gorgeous venue located in Metamora, IL, to start my day with Hope & Eli. Even though the skies were a little gloomy, the atmosphere inside was a party! Hope was getting ready with her girls, while her groom, Eli, was prepping at an Air bnb in a nearby town. My amazing second, Amelia, was able to capture a few shots of Eli getting ready while I captured the girls.

Before long, Hope slipped into her beautiful gown and prepared for her first looks with her dad, step dad, and Eli! First looks are always a favorite of mine; I love seeing the reaction a groom has when he sees his gorgeous bride for the very first time! Hope and Eli exchanged letters before their first look, which was so sweet to witness. After the first look we jumped right into bridal party photos, which was a blast! Hope and Eli had SUCH a fun group of friends, I loved photographing them.

As ceremony time approached the rain clouds started rolling in fast, but the couple decided to stick with their original plan of an outdoor ceremony under the venue’s covered shelter. It did end up raining – a LOT – but that didn’t bring down the mood. I think the rain actually made the ceremony that much more memorable, intimate and sweet. The rain let up right as the ceremony wrapped up and everyone was able to make it back inside for drinks & dinner.

After a great dinner, speeches, and couple dances it was time for the dance floor to open – and let me tell you, the guests brought the party! This was one of the most fun, energetic groups I have ever photographed. You’ll see what I mean when you get to those photos!
